Dear Zoey,
It was July 7, 2007 (07/07/07). It was our third date. You can say we hit the jackpot or third time’s the charm. Either way, your daddy and I went for a walk that night and little did we know that our walk would never end.
We met 6 years prior to that date and it was our separate paths and individual journeys that led us down the same path that night. We shared where we’ve been, where we were and where we saw ourselves 5, 10, 50 years down the road. Our paths had not only crossed at that point, but it had also connected.
Never would I’ve imagined that I would one day marry the one I met years ago at a friend’s Christmas party where we didn’t even exchange a handshake. To me, we were worlds apart. He was 25 and I was 20. I would crack jokes about his age every chance I got. Yes, the “old” jokes never got old. It wasn’t until the odd months following that we would exchange a “Hi” or the odd joke. Finally, in the summer of 2007, we reconnected at softball where we played on opposing teams and after the game, we exchanged emails.
He claims even before that day at softball, he pursued me. His version of the story would be, “He came. He saw. He conquered.”
Today, after 4 years of marriage, we’re exchanging the ups and downs of life and love and still walking, stronger than ever, down that same path where our journey first started. And now with the addition of you, Zoey our beautiful little angel and your soon-to-be baby brother (or sister) to walk alongside of us.
To the one I never in a zillion years would’ve imagined life with, I couldn’t imagine a zillion years without him.
He’s my best friend, my confidant, my perfect miracle from God. He’s nothing short of all the amazing traits I could think of. Our life, our love makes me believe that nothing is impossible through God. I cannot even begin to express how lucky and grateful I am to have him walk beside me. God, you are good and your love endures forever.
Happy 4th Anniversary to my love and my best friend.
Through and through, side by side.
J
