A Father’s Love
Dear Jason,
It’s been one year since Appa passed away and I wasn’t sure what emotions this Father’s Day would bring.
Ultimately, I’m reminded of the blessing of our Father’s Love and I find peace in knowing that Appa lives in you, you will live on in our daughters and our Father lives in us. No matter what is given or taken away from us, no matter our circumstances, we hold onto the hope that is our Father’s Love. A Love that connects and continues to live on through the generations. We hold onto the promise that not even death can separate us from God’s Love and because of His Love, we can live on with the Truth that we are never Fatherless.
The hardest part for me was knowing that Habi and his granddaughters wouldn’t get to continue to grow together. The bond he shared with each one was something I cherished more than anything. It makes me sad to think as the days go on without him, the more he may cease to exist in their eyes. When we think about him, we will continue to share our fond memories of his kind and selfless love. When we miss him, we will remind each other that he now lives in our hearts and we will wait for that day we get to see him again. When we get overwhelmed with sadness, I will remember the words from Romy “Habi is all better now because he’s with God.” It doesn’t get easier living without him here, but it does get better trusting he’s with the Lord.
I miss Appa. He was the father I never had. And you are the father to our girls that I’ve always prayed for. I didn’t have a good father growing up, but I always knew there was one out there. It turns out He has been there since day one and would one day bless me with two Appas who live to love and serve God first, and who raise their children so that they may come to fully know our Father’s sacrificial and steadfast love. I know everything you do is always for our family and everything you are is because you are, above all else, His beloved child. May you always look to Him first to lead and guide your way.
Happy Father’s Day to our Appa and Habi. Together as One, your love continues to lead us, live in us and show us that His love will never leave us. We walk fully trusting and knowing that our Father’s Love will follow us wherever we go until our path leads us back home to Him.
