Yuna
Dear Zoey Yuna,
Turning, changing, growing.
You are a tiger turned Yuna-corn.
I think it may have happened around seven magical months ago, around the same time you got your magical, sparkly, brand new rainbow-tastic braces.
It all happened right before my eyes, in a blink of an eye. A true eye opener that you are constantly forming and transforming, even when I fail to see it.
Turning Nine hasn’t been all rainbows and unicorn sprinkles, but with growth comes pain. Because of the hills and hurdles you encountered, you learned a lot and are still learning a lot about yourself. Like how French is not your strength, but creating is. Like how you made a really cool board game and how Appa is no match for you at Uno. How you’re awful at saying “Sorry” but how responsible and caring of a big sister you are.
You’re learning that becoming the best Yuna-corn that you can be, takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. It means getting out of your comfort zone and doing something that scares you every day, like raising your hand in class.
And in classic Zoey fashion, it requires some First Class sass, of course.
In your formative and transformative years, I’ve watched you roll, sit up, crawl, stand up, step, walk, strut, run and cartwheel your way into the beautifully Yu-nique Yuna-corn you were created to be.
Looking beyond your fidgety, nervous and busy little fingers, I’ve seen your hands create a lot of unique and beautiful art.
From a blank canvas, to your very first handprint art, to a lasting imprint on my heart.
You are a one of a kind masterpiece, perfectly formed and crafted from our Creator’s hands.
You’ve found your voice through creating so raise your voice and lift your hands up in the air, like you just don’t care.
Happy 9th Birthday, sweet and silly Zoey Yuna.
Each year brings you one step, strut and cartwheel closer to who you are meant to be so keep cartwheeling into the fearfully and wonderfully made Yuna you were made to be. There will be times when you will have to relearn how to stand up and walk and that’s okay. It just means you’re turning, changing, growing and transforming into a better and sassier you.
Each year has proven to bring on a new you and a new adventure so keep growing, keep exploring and keep discovering what makes you Yu-niquely beautiful and beautifully Yu-nique.
But above all, be Yuna.
J
