Dear Zoey,
Five days ago, you turned lucky number seven!
It’s crazy to think that down the road your earliest memories will be from these very moments.
I remember when you were two years old and I would long for the days you would go to school and now you’re already in grade two!
Only three weeks ago, you started a new school. And now you’re making new friends and new memories.
My favourite time of day is when I pick you up from school. As you walk out the school doors and make that long walk towards the front gate, my mind sees you as a big girl, but my heart still sees you as my baby.
You would greet me with a small wave and a timid little smile and I would greet you with a big hug and a “How was your day?”
I’m so proud of how much you’ve grown and the girl you’ve grown into. I love how you share your day with me and have to fill me in on every single little detail. It’s a memory I want to keep forever. It could be the same old, just another ordinary day of collecting rocks during recess. But I would choose to listen to your stories over and over again, over anything, any day.
Zoey, you are a small girl with a big imagination. I love how you live like the ordinary is extraordinary.
Any old rock to me can be the most beautiful, unique gem to you. You’ll even take a closer look and notice that every facet sparkles at a different angle.
Because of you, I will remember to face each ordinary day and see it in a new angle and a new extraordinary light. Let’s not forget to collect rocks on the way too.
Happy 7th Birthday, to my Little Charmers, Shimmer and Shine loving baby girl.
7 years ago, I thought I was blessed with a tiny little pebble in my belly, but it turns out you are a gem.
Sparkle on,
J
